Max Kersting
Drei unbeschwerte Tage

Der in Berlin und Lippstadt lebende Künstler Max Kersting versieht alte Fotos mit einer raffinierten Gedankenübermalung. So entstehen verwirrende, kleine Kunstwerke, die das Gefüge der Zeit gehörig ins Wanken bringen. Während dasselbe Motiv beim einen ein warmes, gleichmäßiges Wohlgefühl auslöst, ruft es beim anderen stille, nervöse Lacher hervor.

Max Kersting
Three untroubled days

The artist Max Kersting travels between his hometown of Lippstadt in the West of Germany and Berlin. He collects old photographs, which he paints afresh with elaborate and artful overcoats. The results are bemusing little pieces of art that puzzle the viewer as he loses his sense of time. For each viewer the reactions to these photographs are different: The same picture can generate a warm sense of wellbeing for one and hysterical, nervous laughter for the other. Because of this array of feelings and reactions the works will only be on show for a short while.
